It serves as the primary metro bus stop for both local and Intercity buses.
Formerly a railway station, the building spans two storeys with approximately 898.8m² of ground floor area and 618m² on the first floor. Situated at the southern end of the station are public car parks owned by the Council, catering to both the Railway Station and the Information Centre. While freight trains are the only ones utilizing the rails currently, this location remains the central transportation hub for Timaru. It serves as the departure point for all Intercity buses, as well as the Atomic Shuttle service.
