Trafalgar Square Shopping Centre

Trafalgar Square was erected in 1987 and ceremonially opened on November 5, 1989, by the then Mayor of Wanganui, Chas Poynter.

Centrally situated in the heart of Wanganui, Trafalgar Square Shopping Centre offers convenient proximity to Victoria Avenue and the picturesque Wanganui River. Wanganui enjoys accessibility within a 3-hour drive from Wellington, Taupo, and New Plymouth. Reflecting the city’s rich heritage, Wanganui boasts numerous historic wooden structures, gas lights, and vibrant flowering hanging baskets.

Trafalgar Square stands as Wanganui’s sole covered shopping center. Spanning a single level, the center features four main entrances leading to a central hub servicing 20 specialty retailers, alongside two major anchors—Countdown Supermarket and The Warehouse. Covering 13,000 square meters of floor space, the center provides ample parking with 400 free spots, including 215 undercover spaces located beneath The Warehouse.
